The Election Day EP is Avit’s debut EP, produced by Kuvie. “I never expected to get into music, although I have known from a young age that I had the ability to sing quite well.” Avit broke out of his shell in high school, when he joined the choir and band, singing lead and soon writing his own songs – albeit without any intention of releasing them.

All this changed one day when he, his cousin and a friend visited his big brother, who had a studio at home. “He played a beat, I did a hook and a verse, and my cousin who manages me said: AV, we cannot sit on this. Decision made.”

Election Day centers around the empowerment of Africans, encouraging people to strive to be the best version of themselves. It also deals with topics such as elections and having the right mindset to approach them, to ensure proper, long-term benefits.

“I’m prioritizing the African continent, mainly because of the message and its relevance to the regular African’s story.” Produced entirely by Kuvie, the EP also features talented singer Asi on Come Closer, a song which adds a fun twist to the project.

Avit touches on different genres, incorporating party beats, chill vibes, and reggae/dancehall. “The intention is to have a cocktail of assorted music, with live performances as the main vehicle for delivering my music and cultivating a resilient fanbase within Ghana and abroad.”

Inspired by real-life events, Avit uses music to vent or express his views. For instance, Why Hate Me is inspired by the Black Lives Matter movement. “Once there is a pressing topic at hand, I try to express it in my music.”
