My Love is the debut single by Abidjan-based Cameroonian DJ and creative director Jeune Lio, featuring fellow Cameroonian serial hitmaker Magasco.

Jeune Lio is one of the forces behind Abidjan’s La Sunday parties, which went from 50 to over 10,000 people attending in less than a year, culminating in a massive 2 stage festival in December 2019, featuring over 30 DJs from across Africa and Europe.

Born in Cameroon and based successively in Paris, Dakar and now Abidjan, Jeune Lio is a creative director, party promoter and DJ, who has gained tremendous momentum in Abidjan, enough to push through the lock-down and turn it into a powerful creative driver. Just recently, Jeune Lio launched his own online radio, Monda.life, further establishing his take on current African music.

Now reaching a step further, Jeune Lio is releasing his first single, featuring Cameroonian serial hitmaker Magasco. “Jeune Lio is doing a lot of amazing work for African music, and when he sent me the instrumental, I fell in love right away: it was magic,” Magasco says. As one of the country’s top artists, he is well aware of the role he can play in pushing his country’s music, in particular via collaborations. “In Cameroon, you’ll see my name everywhere, I’m the guy that fuses.”

For Jeune Lio: “I’ve spent a lot of time abroad, now a lot of people assume I’m Ivorian, so this collaboration is a way to let people in Cameroon know that I’m a Cameroonian.” My Love will surely travel well beyond Cameroon’s borders though: “When I first heard the beat, I knew I wanted a sexy, sensual song” Jeune Lio lays out. Magasco shares the same vibe: “I used to crush on this girl in high school, she never even knew about it. But as soon as I heard the beat, the emotions came right back to me, that’s why I was so quick to pen it down and send Lio my verse.”

Keep an eye on Jeune Lio in 2020; whether La Sunday remains grounded by the virus or not, Jeune Lio is definitely spreading his wings and making sure he enters your eardrums, one way or another.
