Solid K – Note to Self

Solid K – Note to Self

Solid K relentlessly fine tunes his craft and message, this time giving us Note to Self, “a message to myself in light of how far I’ve reached in my music career and as a man” he says. ”It is also a pep talk to myself and my listeners – that we are awesome and great at whatever we do, and we only get better as we continue to do what we do. It is a message to myself to go full send with my art, because my art is awesome, and I come with a uniqueness that defines me and makes me the great artist I am.”

The song was initially conceived by Solid K, then he had Ice Geezy come on board to add his own production flavor.

Soukeïna – 8

“I want my voice to travel the world over, I want my songs to travel further than me.”  The horizon is infinite for Soukeïna, Korean and Ivorian singer, beat maker and mixing engineer, Paris born and “part of a new generation of children of Ivory Coast brought up by the World.”

The number 8 symbolises power, justice and expansion. It also represents Soukeïna’s character and path of life. “I want numbers to correspond to the effort I put into creating this EP. It’s the first time I compose everything from A to Z, and I can’t wait for people to discover this facet of me.”

Like Galileo, she believes “mathematics are the language with which God created the Universe.” She realized this when she studied sound engineering, as she manipulated and measured sound waves. “It’s obvious to me, there is something greater than us, nature is impressively precise.”

The EP’s guiding thread is water, an element perceptible throughout each song. “Water adapts, it can never be contained. Snow, oceans, rain, my blood. It’s a part of me. All the waters that joined my path give me more strength, I feel myself becoming more powerful. God willing, I will become an ocean.”

Life for Soukeïna is movement, and this EP is a reflection of time passing like a river. “You can not touch the same water twice, because the flow that has passed will never pass again. Enjoy every moment of your life.”
